When it comes to gut health, it’s not just our digestion that can be affected. Studies show that a healthy gut is vital for overall health and wellbeing. From a strong immune system, to clear, healthy skin, a happy mood, a healthy brain, heart and good sleep, a happy gut means a happy body and mind.
Things like stress, a poor diet, alcohol, antibiotics and other medications can upset the balance of our gut bacteria and cause damage to our intestinal lining. When this happens, our digestion can be significantly affected. This can change the way we react to certain foods, impact on the amount of nutrients we absorb, as well as cause overall abdominal discomfort and upset our bowel patterns too.
Happy Gut gut health powder is beneficial for everyone to take to support digestion and overall gut health, ingredients such as L- Glutamine helps maintain the integrity of our intestinal wall while the prebiotic Hawke’s Bay apple fibre and chia seeds provide a good source of fibre to promote the growth and activity of good gut bacteria. Soothing herbs including slippery elm, chamomile and ginger further support gut health and overall digestion for a happy gut.
Happy Gut may also help with:
- Overall gut health
- Bloating
- Skin issues
- Low mood and mood dysregulation
- Low energy
- Poor sleep
- Bowel irregularities like constipation and diarrhoea
- Low or suppressed immunity
- Sugar cravings

The ingredients in Two Islands Happy Gut will start to nourish and soothe the gut after the first serve. Depending on how compromised your gut flora, digestion and overall gut health is you may notice results in as little as 2 weeks. Even if you do not have any external signs of poor gut health, it is beneficial to include Happy Gut as part of our daily routine to support total body wellbeing. It’s like a multivitamin for your gut!
For best results, we recommend supplementing with Happy Gut alongside a diet high in fermented foods, fibre, vegetables and low in sugar, processed food, alcohol and refined carbohydrates.

- Chronic stress
- Poor quality diet - one high in refined carbohydrates, sugar and processed food
- A diet low in fermented foods, fibre and vegetables
- Gluten, seed oils and refined sugars are known to cause damage to the intestinal lining
- Alcohol
- Antibiotics
- Medications like birth control and NSAIDs
- Chronic infections
- Food additives including emulsifiers and preservatives
- Artificial sweeteners

FibaFit™ is a functional fibre derived from Hawke’s Bay apples. It is a rich source of both soluble and insoluble fibre which can help to bulk stools and allow for regular and comfortable bowel motions. It is also a source of antioxidants and vitamin D, which is also involved in supporting a healthy gut lining. As a good source of prebiotic fibre, it helps to feed the good bacteria in our gut, helping with a healthy intestinal microbial balance. Studies have shown that apple fibre can increase a type of fatty acid in the body called butyrate, which can decrease the number of harmful bacteria in the intestine.

L-glutamine is an amino acid that is used for many functions in our body including protein synthesis, immune function and digestion by maintaining the barrier between the inside of your intestines and the rest of your body.
Prebiotics are compounds that growth and activity of beneficial bacteria. We like to think of our gut flora as a garden that needs fertiliser in order to flourish and bloom. Prebiotics act as the fertiliser for our gut microbes, supporting a healthy balance of beneficial bacteria and bad bacteria. Essentially, prebiotics are food for the bacteria in your gut.
Happy Gut is complementary to, not a replacement for probiotics. We need probiotics to promote good gut bacteria and prebiotics to feed them. We recommend supporting Happy Gut by including probiotic rich fermented foods to your diet like sauerkraut and kimchi. You can even add Happy Gut along with probiotic rich ingredients such as coconut yoghurt, kombucha or apple cider vinegar to your smoothie for a natural dose of probiotics.
Everyone can benefit from taking Happy Gut! Things like stress, a poor diet, sugar, processed food, alcohol, artificial sweeteners, antibiotics and some medications can disrupt our gut microbiota and damage our intestinal lining. Many of these factors are simply unavoidable in today’s modern lifestyle so the heaping helpings of goodness in Happy Gut can help nourish the gut, support gut lining integrity and promote the growth and activity of beneficial bacteria to support overall gut health.
We recommend that you consult with your healthcare professional if you are taking any blood thinning medication before using Happy Gut.
We do not recommend taking Happy Gut whilst taking blood thinning medication.
Happy Gut contains slippery elm which coats the digestive tract so it is best to take Happy Gut two hours away from any medications or vitamins.
Majority of Happy Gut’s ingredients like the NZ apple fibre, chia seeds, and herbs are not completely soluble in nature. The slippery elm in Happy Gut also takes a slightly gelatinous form hence it remains suspended in your drink.
For a glowing complexion, strengthening of joints and bone, or to help support hair, skin, and nails, a 10g serve once a day will do the trick. However, you can have as many serves per day as you like. Collagen is a pure protein, so you can’t have too much of it.
We recommend one serve (10g / 2 teaspoons) per day. This can be split into two 5g servings if you prefer to take it once in the morning and at night.
Find out why collagen is important here.
Our Two Islands Collagen Powders are high strength, so you notice results fast. The Unflavoured Collagen contains 9.95g of marine collagen per 10g serve. The Pineapple & Coconut Collagen contains 9.45g, Vanilla Collagen contains 9g, and the Berry Collagen contains 9.5g.
as well as Collagen Beauty Powder?
Two Islands Collagen Powder have added Vitamin C to help with absorption. It contains the recommended RDI (recommended daily intake) of Vitamin C for an adult.
Yes. Collagen is a complete protein and is water soluble. It is easily dissolved and can be blended, shaken, or stirred into any liquid – hot or cold. It is not damaged by heat in any way, so take collagen whatever works best with your daily routines and preference.
Two Islands Collagen Beauty Powder contains hydrolysed marine collagen peptides which is derived from fish skin. Because of their small particle size, hydrolysed collagen can reach the small intestine in the form of collagen peptides. Here they are broken down into smaller particles (dipeptides and tripeptides) and free amino acids where they can then be absorbed and distributed throughout the body via the bloodstream.
Previous research has shown that collagen derived peptides are resistant to gastrointestinal digestion and enzymes, which means they can be absorbed into the bloodstream.
Once absorbed through the small intestine, collagen peptides and free amino acids travel through the bloodstream to various parts of the body, including the dermis (the deepest layer of the skin) where research in animal models have shown they can remain for up to 14 days. Several studies have shown that collagen peptides can be efficiently absorbed and distributed to the skin, where they can stimulate fibroblasts (specialised cells in connective tissue) to increase the density and diameter of collagen fibres, as well as increase hyaluronic acid production and protect against UVA radiation.
Supplementing with marine collagen has been shown to increase collagen production, skin hydration and moisture, improve skin elasticity and reduce the signs of aging.
Find our why protein is important here.
Consumption is entirely situation-dependent. If you exercise regularly, two serves per day is suitable. One during the day as preferred and another directly after training or exercise. One serve on recovery days is fine.
While protein is important to help maintain and build muscle mass, consuming more protein as part of a healthy diet is not going to make you bulk up. Unlike carbohydrates and fat, the body can’t physically store protein. Any protein that is consumed in the diet is going to either be used by the body, stored as fat or excreted and not sent directly to your muscles.
Our Two Islands Pea Protein Powder can be mixed with your milk of choice (cow’s, oat, almond, etc.). It is also great mixed with yoghurt and your smoothie for a post-workout snack.
