Omega-3 fatty acids cannot be made in the body, they must be consumed in the diet. They are considered an essential fat for this reason and due to their many roles in the normal functioning of the body – including supporting optimal heart, eye, brain, joint and skin health to name a few. They’re incredibly effective at reducing the production of inflammatory substances in the body. Long term inflammation can contribute to nearly all chronic illnesses including heart disease and even some mood disorders.
The two main types of omega-3 fatty acids in fish are eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Alpha-linolenic (ALA) is the form of omega-3 found in plants. ALA is not as bioavailable to humans as EPA and DHA.
EPA is a precursor for a number of important substances, including the other important omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). EPA is beneficial for general inflammation, brain development, heart and joint health. Emerging evidence suggests it may also be important to support against low mood.
DHA is most greatly concentrated in the human brain, specifically in the cerebral cortex, which is responsible for higher order brain functions such as sensation, perception and memory. DHA is often linked with cognitive benefits but it is also an essential component of other tissues such as skin and the retina of the eye. Low DHA levels have been associated with low mood as omega-3 fatty acids form an essential component of the neurotransmitter serotonin.
Adults: Take 3 capsules daily with food or as professionally advised. Best taken at night.
Many other fish oil supplements claim to be tasteless and odourless which means the oil has gone through a deodourisation process which can damage the essential omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) as well as other natural antioxidants and phospholipids present in the oil.
We don’t do this with our Extra Virgin Fish Oil so we recommend to always take yours with food and if possible, at night to avoid them repeating on you. We believe that minimally processed is best to ensure you’re getting quality supplementation. You can read more about deodourisation and the damage this can have on fish oil here.

Frequently asked
questions
Is your fish oil tested for heavy metals?
Every batch of fish oil we produce is tracked and tested from sea to supplement. Our testing protocols include compositional testing, microbiology and heavy metal testing. You can find out these results for your Extra Virgin Fish Oil by entering your batch number in the section above.
What are the benefits of taking fish oil?
Studies have shown that regularly taking fish oil supplements may benefit heart health, lower blood pressure, support cognitive function, boost the immune system, maintain eye function, regulate body weight and support joint mobility. Some recent science even indicates that omega-3 supplementation can support those with depression or anxiety. The scientific evidence supporting fish oil supplementation is endlessly growing, and we continue to discover more ways that fish oil supplements help support an overall healthy lifestyle.
How does your Extra Virgin Fish Oil differ from others?
Our fish oil differs from many of our competitors by being purely and honestly made. Mainstream fish oil production often using anchovies and other small oily fish that are harvested in Asian or South American waters require heavy processing. The crude oil is refined and shipped to processing plants where it
undergoes chemical enhancement, namely, de-acidification, bleaching and deodourising. Transesterification and molecular distillation concentrates the amount of EPA and DHA in each capsule, altering the nutrient profile further. Antioxidant compounds are then added to produce the final product. Unfortunately, rancidity can occur well before the antioxidants are added due to the shipping and processing of oils.
We care about maintaining the integrity of our fish oil from sea to supplement. Because of this, each one of our capsules contains the relative amount of EPA and DHA that you would find in the hoki fish itself. It’s also why we don’t use any nasty chemicals or additional processing to strip the oil of its genuine state.
Our fish oil is also made from only one species of fish. We believe in providing our valued customers with the most updated and transparent information possible, which is why we provide full transparency of our supply chain, manufacturing process and certificates of analysis. With our fish oil being sourced solely from one species of fish, you know exactly what you are taking and where it comes from. No question is left unanswered. To find out more about where your Extra Virgin Fish Oil comes from and how it was made, please visit our website. We have nothing to hide.
I am pregnant / breastfeeding. Can I still take Extra Virgin Fish Oil?
Please consult your healthcare professional before use if pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication. Please note this supplement does contain naturally occurring Vitamin A.
Why have you used a hard capsule?
We have used hard vegetable capsules as opposed to soft gel capsules which are often made from gelatin as we want to create the most natural product possible. Our clear hard vegetable capsules enable you to see the oil you're taking and offers a level of transparency not often seen with fish oil supplements. Many people can also have difficulties swallowing soft gel capsules so we've used easy to swallow hard capsules making it easier to maintain your daily supplementation of Extra Virgin Fish Oil.
